FAQs: Fees & Appointments
-
It has been two years since our last price review, and during that time the costs associated with running a physiotherapy practice have increased significantly.
To provide some context, the Australian Physiotherapy Association released a report in 2025 examining the true cost of delivering physiotherapy care in Australia. This report found that an appropriate hourly rate is $261, with higher rates recommended for Titled or Specialist physiotherapists.
Our fees continue to sit well below recommendation, as we have tried to carefully balance affordability for our clients with the sustainability of our practice and our ability to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, person-centred care.

After reviewing our day-to-day practice, we recognised that some appointment types — particularly pelvic health, pregnancy and postnatal care — often require more time than we had formally allocated.
We found that shorter follow-up appointments could feel rushed, sometimes resulting in us running late or completing important documentation and correspondence outside of appointment hours. This was especially noticeable in the early stages of care, when treatment plans are still being established and education and reassurance are key parts of the session.
While there are many situations where a 30-minute follow-up is entirely appropriate, and we will continue to offer and bill these when clinically suitable, longer standard follow-up appointments allow us to provide more thorough, unhurried care when it’s needed most.
-
Whilst we are trained in pelvic health, our physiotherapist have a background in other areas of physiotherapy. ‘General Physiotherapy’ refers to an issue not related to pelvic health such as a musculoskeletal concern e.g. neck pain, muscle strain, low back pain etc.
-
We have introduced a tiered fee structure to recognise differences in training and experience within our team.
All of our physiotherapists have completed additional postgraduate training to work in pelvic health, pregnancy and postnatal care. Beyond this, there is an advanced pathway to become a Titled Physiotherapist, which reflects a higher level of specialist training, assessment and ongoing professional development.
At Empower Physio For Women, Erin has completed this advanced training and is recognised by the Australian College of Physiotherapists as a Titled Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. Senior rates reflect this additional expertise.
-
Our standard rates will apply for appointments attended under a TCA or GPMP. Your Medicare rebate will remain the same as set by Medicare.
-
No. Appointments billed under DVA, NDIS or WorkCover follow set fee schedules determined by those organisations, and we will continue to bill in line with these requirements.
